Guardian — Appointment of — Liability of the person who applied for the appointment. I. The duties of a guardian consist in preserving and looking after the properties entrusted to his administration by virtue of his functions as he looks after his own property. II. The appointment of a guardian at the request of an individual whose interests are concerned therein, does not engage the responsibility of this latter on account of that appointment, although such guardian may be one of his subordinates. In fact, such appointment depends upon the appreciation of a special authority, the duty of which is to ascertain whether or not the guardian is in possession of the qualities required.
